APRIL 30, 2008

Grade 6 - History
1. We finished discussing Napoleon's greatest mistake and Waterloo.
2. Student's took notes.

Grade 6 - Science
1. Finished talking about the Food Web by a stream or river.
2. No homework.

Grade 7 - Science
1. Took notes on DNA.

Grade 8 - Science
1. We spent quite a bit of time discussing their papers that they have turned in for their energy report.
2. A student who just wrote something from memory from our class reading generally received a D. If the questions were answered, but put into a paragraph form the student more than likely received a C. To get an A or a B a student needed to use the questions as a guide to presenting information on the subject. They needed to add information to make the topic flow from one thought to the next.
3 Students received a sheet that showed the expectations of what the report is to have included in it and how it is to be presented.
4. Mrs. Corpron has a template on her website that is to be used as a guideline for how papers are to be presented at Xavier for the Middle School unless otherwise directed by a teacher.
5. Report is due: MONDAY.
6. Students took notes on Isaac Newton's thinking in how he came up with the laws of gravity.
7. I am having a study session Thursday after school for any student wanting help with their report.
8. Students understand that to get as high of a grade on the report as their rough drafts, they need to show improvement from what they have presented previously.

10. Remember pages need to be numbered.
11. Number the pages of the report starting the page after the Table of Contents.
12. To re-look at any previous assignment for the purpose of improving any part of your paper, please refer to the blog on the dates of: April 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd.
